Hello and welcome to my 3D printed costume/cosplay prop commissions!
Ever since I started my business (2020), I have been making small props for costumes for family and friends. Now, I am expanding to bigger projects such as this! Whether it's for a simple Halloween costume or showing off your favorite character, I would love to help!
How do I make these?Â
Based on your idea, I will do my best to make your prop using geometric shapes and then go into Blender to clean it up (or if you have a pre-existing model, I can work with that). Once approved, I will begin putting the pieces of the puzzle together. I want to make sure any props are as durable as possible (Since shipping can be a nightmare, leading to damaged items), so after 3D printing each piece needed, I go through seams with super glue and resin multiple times to be sure that these will not break at any parts connected. After the model is super glued and sealed with resin, I sand down any areas that need it to have a clean, smooth finish. Then, I start painting the model using spray paint and/or craft paint according to your prop. Next, I will go through the model again using resin. I will finish off the model using a clear coating, whether that is sprayed or applied with a foam brush. I try to 3D print as many colors as I can onto the model beforehand for a cleaner finish, but sometimes that cannot be done, so I will resort to painting in the process. I try my best to make this as perfect (despite being imperfect myself) as possible so your ideas can become perfect!
Interested? How do I start?
First, send me an email at dk3dcustoms@gmail.com with your project idea, as many reference images as possible, and your preferred dimensions. I will send you a quote and estimated time. Please keep in mind that processing time may change due to the design process and personal things that may happen. If approved, you will be updated with images and explanations from there on. Please do NOT be afraid to ask for revisions :)
What happens if my item is damaged in transit?
That is okay. I have had items made and packed well that still arrive damaged. I've also had packaging arrive that looks like it's been thrown down a cliff (Which baffles me). Shipping is hit or miss, so if you by chance get the "hit" instead of the "miss", please message me describing the damage. I can give you the options of a free return to fix damages, a brand new item, or a refund. I would love to help you make your item right, so please let me know if there's ANYTHING I can do to help :)
Here's how I recommend handling once received:
I recommend being careful with these because even though they are made to be durable, anything could happen to them. I do not recommend swinging these, even if they look like they could be used as such. That is also a safety measure, and I am not responsible for anybody getting hurt while handling these. Swinging can also damage the item.
What I cannot do:
Anything really that involves machinery or digital display. Though I can get crafty with this outside of 3D printing, I'm not the best at constructing technical things like that.
If this service seems right for you, please let me know so we can get started on your big idea!
